About us
The Foundation “Institute for Information Freedom Development”, or the Freedom of Information Foundation (FIF), is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization established in 2004 dedicated to investigating, identifying and solving problems of access to socially significant information in Russia. In particular, the FIF focuses on access to governmental information and information about the activities of state agencies through legal recourse and organizational means.
One of the FIF’s primary goals is to assist in the process of developing information technology resources available to the public in particular, actively advocating for the development of official websites of state authorities on the Internet. The FIF works to ensure that official websites of state authorities serve as the main, publicly accessible resource for obtaining complete and reliable information about governmental activities.
We are always open to cooperation
The methodology developed by Freedom of information Foundation for monitoring official websites is applicable widely. It is convenient, efficient and can be used for research in various fields. We are interested in cooperation with different governmental and non-government entities in various countries in order to extend the monitoring practice, including possible joint comparative researches.
