Laws Are Changing

On June 18, 2010, the State Duma approved a bill1 amending the laws on personal data and on access to judicial information. On June 23, it was approved by the Council of Federation.

The amendments,

- first, extend list of full names not excluded from judicial acts published in the Internet since the law on personal data will now not regulate this field. These are names of court case participants: judges, plaintiffs, defendants, prosecutors, attorneys, and some others.

- second, prevent publication of judicial warrants in the Internet.

The new Federal Law comes into force today, July 1, 2010.

1 Federal Law No. 123-FZ, June 28, 2010: On Making Amendments to Article 1 of the Federal Law “On Personal Data” and to Article 15 of the Federal Law “On Providing Access to Information on Activities of Courts in Russian Federation”
