Through FOI and E-Government - to Governmental Transparency

On October 5, 2010, a roundtable “Governmental Transparency and Accountability Through FOI and E-Government” takes place in St.-Petersburg. The event is organized by the International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) and the IIFD, supported by the Freedom of Information Foundation.
The roundtable follows up the second US-Russian Civil Society Leaders Summit that took place in Washington, DC in June 2010.

Civil society experts are to develop a plan of action for the nearest future in order to enable wider involvement of Russian citizens in civil society projects.

New projects are expected to increase governmental efficiency in Russia, to solve the problem of citizens’ access to governmental informational resources, and to make the government more transparent for the society – as international experience shows today.
